Reseach - Trailer_Compansion_Between_"Se7en"_And_"Zodiac"
Similarities:
Both Films are directed by David Fincher, Se7ens was released in 1995 and is a crime thriller about a serial killer, who murders people based on the seven deadly sins, and two detective are trying to find him and stop him. This is nearly the same for the Zodiac made in 2007, is another crime thriller about a serial killer, with several detectives trying to catch the zodiac.
Both films are centred around someone new coming in to solve a new/old case. This is used so the audience have a way into the film, and feel apart of the film.
The trailer convection both films use is a term called asynchronous dialogue, dialogue from a different part of the film played over another scene, this help set up the world and help inform the audience as to what is going on in their world.
In the 'Zodiac' there is a scene when Jake Gyllenhaal characters is reading a letter from the Zodiac, which says "I like killing people, because man is the most dangerous animal of them all." this scene then cuts from Gyllenhaal reading the letter, to a man and a women (in the picture below) being held by a hoodie figure. This asynchronous dialogue connotes to the audience the zodiacs point, as they hear the words "most dangerous animal", while being denoted a man is being held against his will.
This can also be seen in 'Se7en', When 50 seconds into the trailer a unknown character says "About the only thing we know about this guy is he's completely insane". Then cuts to dimly lit
While showing them the clips of the film to help get the audience attention, they are both broken into 3 section:

Research - "Kiss the Girl"_Film_Trailer_Anaylsis
(Created by Ryan Wood)
Mise en scene is strongly used in this film trailer. Within the first 3 seconds it fades from red to dark images this entails that there is going to be death involved. it connotes that red means death and anger. this occurs throughout the trailer of flashes of red, this is to show death to the audience and then after flashes of red in scene it flashes read then goes to a murder scene. Red can also resemble evil. this can mean in the trailer that bad things will be happening. camera work is very unique because in the trailer there is lots of close ups which is meant to make the audience feel costriphobic, as this plays on the emotions of the viewer. what is very clever with this trailer is the editing and the sound. In one scene what occurs is that white flashes occur to the sound of a camera being taken the it converts to a scene of a camera with someone forensic individual is taking pictures.
Iconography elements in a crime thriller consist off weapons (kinves or guns), police tape, forensic teams, police officers, cut out newspapers of important information, court room for an interview of a someone that escaped. with all these elements above it shows in the film trailer. this is to start to show the audience what os going to occur throughout the trailer and then the film.

Research - "Silence of the lambs "_Film_Trailer_Analysis
Trailer Analysis:
At the beginning of the trailer the spectator is subjected to non diegetic sound of a low tone soundtrack that slowly becomes more fast paced, connoting the tension within the trailer and creates a more uneasy soundtrack that starts to play on the mind of the audience. This immediately connotes to the audience that this trailer was made to put them on edge and they will have to work out why. This use of non-diegetic sound also mirror's the sudden flashes that introduces "Hannibal Lecter" (Played by Anthony Hopkins), connoting Hannibal's suddenness and his unpredictability towards the audience. The close-up Hannibal's face denotes to the spectators his character as a very dangerous and can foreshadow his role as gruesome and conniving cannibal, that is connoted through diegetic dialogue in the trailer from a detective saying "'Don’t let him get inside your head’" this has the connotation of Hannibal's cunning and how dangerous he could be. The close-up of Hannibal's smile looks very scary and suggests his character shouldn't be trusted, intriguing the audience to find out more about his sinister character and the deadly crime he has committed.
This is something we would try to recreate in our trailer, as this would help set up the tone of our film.
The diegetic dialogue use in the trailer when Hannibal asks "Do you spook easily starling?” allows the audience to be quickly informed that the film will have a horror and thriller aspects to it as this is more of a question directed towards the audience. This use of braking the 4th wall by speaking directly to the audience is almost inviting them into Hannibal's crazy world, making the audience to figure out what could be occurring in the film. Creating anticipation towards the tension that is being build-up. This is something we could try to recreate within our trailer, however instead of a direct quote towards the audience, we might try to use titles to create the same effect and it makes our trailer more interactive with the audience.
Furthermore, there is a point of view shot of starling walking through the prisoner ward. Which makes the audience sympathize with her character because her job is very risky and life threatening. Which also makes the audience support her character. The shot of Starling walking also shows the audience that she is walking into the unknown, unaware of what will await her. A night vision camera shot is emerged in the scene at it is show as a high angle and what this does is that its meant to portray the character who is Starling as being vulnerable and weak.
The trailer also uses the mise-en-scene very well, by using the setting alongside clothing and props. To establish the prison environment the criminal Hannibal is wearing blue-ish grey overalls. This will immediately denote to the audience that he is a threat because its set in a prison and he’s behind the bars. Sterling looks very formal often wearing suits, with a badge to inform everyone of her status and authority. The prison is set in a dark setting underground, this may make the audience feel apart of the film and it my suggest to the audience something bad is going to occur. Newspapers are some of the props used to show the popularity of Hannibal, this is shown in the film inside his cell it shows the audience Hannibal is looking up on himself as he likes the attention. It helps with keeping up with his story.
