Planning - Audience_Feedback

Feedback:
After we finished our trailer and have uploaded the product onto YouTube. We wanted to get direct feedback from people, so I deicide to use "Facebook Messager", as this would get us feedback  straight away. So I asked other students and friends their thoughts on our trailer. These were their responds:

Fatma:
·         That was brilliant!! It was genuinely really good, I don't know if you can change this but I feel the actors aren't talking naturally enough though. That's my only criticism, I think it's a matter of trying to make it sound clear enough for the audience but it sounds a little robotic. Apart from that it's amazing!!!!! Well done. It's not really a major issue anyway, The editing is great and it balances out quite well too.

Reuben:
·         Its ok, not great. It screams A-level media video, but the ringing in the back ground was a nice touch.

Polly:
·         That's really good! Did you do all that??

Alex:
·         Not that i can really see, only the lab coat guy was very slightly out of focus but thats being picky.

With these responds if we  wanted to change the trailer again, we could look at this feed back

Planning - Soldier_Unknown_Trailer_Script

Script:
This is our script that we used while filming our trailer, certain bits of dialogue such as the doctors speak was done in one go, and was edited around to fit this script.
We also used professional actors so they were able to stick to the lines and executed it perfectly.

Doctor:
PTSD is a whole-body tragedy, an integral human event of enormous proportions with massive repercussions

Girlfriend:
Ok Close your eyes

Party group:
SUPRISE!

Doctor:
This obsession is not healthy for your well-being,

Soldier:
Hi you alright, I just got a flat.

Doctor:
We are going to put you on some harder medication to help you sleep

Doctor:
The will to deny horrible events and the will to proclaim them aloud is the central dialectic of psychological trauma

Doctor:
You've got to stop running away from your past!

Doctor:
Even in times of trauma, we try to maintain a sense of normality until we no longer can.

Girlfriend:
Hi, It's me again, I'm getting really worried about him now, he's not taking his pills, I don't know what were going to do.

Doctor:
That, my friend, is called surviving. Not healing. We never become whole again... we are survivors. If you are here today... you are a survivor. But those of us who have made it through hell and are still standing? We bare a different name: warriors.

Planning - Costume_List

Costume List:

Ben – For Ben’s character he is an ex-marine Sargent, who is now a physicist. So we made him wear:
- Glasses,
- Combat Trousers,
- Plain T-shirt,
- Lab-coat,
- Boots.
The combat gear and plain shirt was used to make Ben look more like he had service in the army, connoting to the audience that he has some understanding as to what is happening to Murray’s character.
This can be seen in such films like the "A Clockwork Orange", As the physicists and Doctors try to help out the main character "Alex". Which is where we got the inspiration for Ben's character to have the lab coat to make it more clear to the audience, his role in the film.

Murray – For Murray's character is the main antagonist of our film, while also being a victim of his own character.
- Beret
- Combat Trousers,
- Navy blue Jumper,
- Plain black shirt,
- Polished Black Boots,
Puffer Jacket coat
As we made Murray's character ex-marine, we made him wear plain clothes as to make him seem distant to everyone, as if he has very little emotion on the outside. This also helps connotes how lost he is.

Amy For Amy's costume we wanted to make her have a harsh outlook, with a modern look to her and creating almost a caring side.
- Black jumper,
- Mustard skirt,
- Black leggings,
- Black shoes.
As Amy's characters is going out with Murray's we wanted her to portray her as someone who is caring towards Murray, but denoting she has a harsh life, living with Murray. So we decided to have her wear all in black, with only one different coloured clothing, to connote that she still has some hope for him and her life.

Planning - Pitch_Video_Feedback

Feedback on Presentation:
Title:
We went through a couple titles before everyone settle for "Soldier Unknown", they were:
- Project X,
- Soldier X,
- Unknown Soldier (Which we found out to be an actually film),
- Project Unknown,
- Battle Scarred,
- Heroes Leave, Monsters Return,
- Broken Soldier.
Also our teachers like the font choices we had made for our title, but believed we need something else to it.
I decided to add a silhouette of a rifle to emphasis our Project Title.

Logo:
Make sure we don’t say "weird" for our production logo.
Twisted Vine Production, will be base on a vine tree with branches over making the words. This creates a strange atmosphere for people viewing it as it connotes disruption, chaos and unease. This is done to set up the tone of the film and what the audience can expect from our production.

Music:
Have it be minimal as to set up a creepy and strange tone, making the audience start to feel uncomfortable when watching the trailer.

Story:
-Walking with family, has a flashback and family are dead on the floor (Could be still image/photo, then goes to them on the  floor).
-With the party scene, have party poppers to set off Murray's flashback.
-Have close-ups on the crimes so the audiences are left in the dark, to who is the really antagonistic.
-Probably easier to have Murray's character have a girlfriend instead of a family.

Planning - Schedules_For_Filming

Time sheet for scheduling production:

When we started filming this was the schedules we created. This wasn't set in stone as we had to change due to our actors availability. But we tried to stick to our time frame.

Planning - Target_Audiences

Target audience

•             15-25
•             Mature audience
•             More understanding and intrigue as its PTSD
•             Questioning reality
•             Script allows for different interpretations

For our trailers we originally had it at a 18 certificate film, however looking at the BBFC guidelines we changed it to a 15 certificate, in accordance to the BBFCs guidelines. This could be done as we intend to not dwell on any of the violence or on any behaviour that is specifically violent. We have suggestive toes towards slight sexual references. An originally we had scenes of prescribed drugs (morphine abuse) this will be shot in a manner that does not promote or encourage drug abuse (within the BBFCs Guidelines (And for the trailer they will only be hinted at drug abuse). There is some strong language, a large amount of threat.
The themes in our film are very adult and that’s why we were originally intending to have are target audience as 18+ but after looking into the BBFCs guidelines, we decided as a team that we wouldn't need a 18 certificate on the film. Due to the maturity of a younger audience, we are allowed to connote to them themes that could be seen in a 18, but not actually showing them or only implying to them.
Our script and the narrative, which is nonlinear, is written and done in a way which allows for different representation allowing younger audience to view the film.
